Asset
Insight Technologies, LLC (AIT) is a service company for the winter
highway maintenance industry specializing in training, consulting, expert
witness services, and applied technology products. AIT is committed
to providing the highest quality products and services to winter highway
maintenance professionals. Wilfrid
Nixon, Ph. D., P.E. and Robert Stowe, P.E. are the founding partners
of AIT. They are joined by associates who are subject matter experts
in winter maintenance operations, technology, materials, and equipment.
AIT staff and associates include professionals in education, research,
engineering, environmental science, maintenance operations, information
technology, and public affairs. Our
mission at AIT is: To
make a difference in winter maintenance practices in North America by
providing the agencies that perform winter maintenance services with
the tools and knowledge they need to make wise decisions. This
means we are committed to assisting winter maintenance professionals
carry out their demanding task of snow and ice control. We focus on
developing long-term partnerships with our customers. Customer
satisfaction is how we measure our success. Wilfrid
Nixon, Ph. D., P.E. Wilfrid
Nixon is a founding partner of Asset Insight Technologies, LLC. He is
a research engineer and professor of Civil Engineering, Environmental
Engineering, and IIHR Hydroscience and Engineering at the University
of Iowa. He has conducted extensive research in winter highway maintenance,
ice mechanics, fatigue of ice, ice removal from roads, ice as a structural
material, modeling ice structure interaction, and compressive strength
of brittle materials. Wilf serves as the chair of the TRB Task Force
on Surface Weather and Transportation (AH001-T), a member of TRB AHD65
Winter Maintenance Committee, member of AASHTO Winter Maintenance Policy
Coordinating Committee (WMPCC), and member of TRB Committee A5001 Conduct
of Research Committee. He has served as a member of the FHWA/AASHTO
Scan Team to Japan on ITS and Winter Maintenance, member of a two-person
FHWA "Technical Assistance in Winter Maintenance" team to Argentina,
and Co-Chair of the 5th TRB/NRC Symposium on Snow Removal and Ice Control screen
Technology. Wilf is the author of more than 90 articles, papers, and
reports. Robert
Stowe, P.E, MBA Robert
Stowe is a founding partner of Asset Insight Technologies, LLC. He has
25 years of experience with State Departments of Transportation, including
eight years as a District Maintenance Engineer at Washington State Department
of Transportation (WSDOT). In 2002 Bob was awarded the Governor's Distinguished
Management Leadership Award by Washington Governor Gary Locke and the
AASHTO "Pathfinder" Team Excellence Award. Bob represented WSDOT on
national committees for winter maintenance. He participated in the Surface
Transportation Weather Decision Support Requirements need review and
the Maintenance Decisions Support System review group. He has presented
papers at the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting and at national
and regional winter maintenance conferences. He served on oversight
boards for highway maintenance equipment and wireless communications
